I like to make abstracted forms. Lately the work I have been exploring is the utilization of many pieces into
one form. I use a process like wood workers do in joinery. It is a slow process but I like the results. Some
of these can be seen on the second row of photographs. Woodfiring the sculpture gives it a really nice
surface quality when the right type of clay is used. With the right clay and firing technique, the flame
patterns can really add to the work as a whole

This totem was built to honor my
college molecular biology professor
who died at an early age of brain
cancer. He was the kindest most gentle
man I had ever met and his spirit still
lives through his past students to
whom he taught some of the most
valuable lessens in life, if we had only
really heard him then to say thank you
for all your wisdom
