Krister is from Sweden. Being interested in woodfiring, he asked us for the
plans for the Kirkwood Anagama kiln. He wanted to build a woodfiring kiln
but also incorporate some ideas he had into the design which would suit
his artistic needs. Below are some of the photographs of the construction
and pictures of the work he has done. Krister and his partner are both very
good artists and we look forward to seeing more of their work that comes
from this kiln. It will be interesting to see how woodfiring will accommodate
local clay and slips from the area if he chooses to use them.

the floor was first started as you can
see here. notice the ceramic fibre.
To the right, sidewalls
and flues being added
Above, you can see the forms being
built in addition to the front stoking
doors. In the first picture you can see
the array of air ports which help control
airflow into the kiln
And to the right, you see the almost
completed kiln. In particular, notice how
the kiln is banded, insulated and how it is
in a shed for protection from the cold
weather, rain and wind. I really like the
side stoking holes in the top, how they
are constructed.
We think Krister did an outstanding job on this woodfiring kiln. His wise use of differing materials and the bad
weather he had to deal with during the construction phase is a testament on how to persevere in adverse
conditions. Below we have included some of Kristers work. We hope you take the time to look at it as it is very
well done. If you have any questions or are interested in the plans for a woodfiring kiln such as this, please
visit our
contact/links page and email us. We would be happy to help you in any way we can.
